Bin the Bomb – Don’t Replace Trident March and Rally organised by Scotland’s for Peace took place in Glasgow on Saturday 24 February 2007.

Speakers at the rally included Alex Salmond MP, Cardinal Keith O’Brien, Rev Alan McDonald, Bruce Kent and representatives from the trade union movement.

STUC

The STUC agreed a position on Trident at its 2006 Congress, and the General Council agreed a further statement on Trident in September 2006. Both the Congress Composite and the General Council statement recognise that Britain’s nuclear weapons are weapons of mass destruction, that the STUC is opposed to all nuclear weapons, and calls for wide public and parliamentary debate on all options on replacing Trident.
